Nuclear Politics

Friday, August 03, 2007

Barack Obama's statement about rulling out the use of atomic strikes against al-Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan has caused a firestorm of criticism not only by right wing war mongers but by some other Democratic candidates for President as well.

The reaction against Obama is clearly political. They have pounced on the opportunity to say that Obama is weak and inexperienced.

But this seems completely ridiculous. Nuclear strikes should be completely off the table. Are the others really saying we should nuke Pakistan? That's insane.

What could possibly be gained by a nuclear attack or even the threat of a nuclear attack? This sort of bully attitude is what has gotten us where we are in the world. We are the most hated nation in the world. And no it's not because of our "freedoms."
